Happiness is…

As I get older I realize that being upbeat and positive is frowned upon by most. Think about how often you hear someone complain about the weather (while having heat and air conditioning in their comfortable temperature-controlled home and vehicle) or complain about work (while having choices to take a leap towards something else). Versus someone who’s cherry & actually enjoying the heavy rain or cold day we’re having. Maybe we do it for the adrenaline rush or maybe a sense of community? I don’t know. I could investigate it, but I’m not going to take the time.
For years and years, I went along. Trying to fit in. However, I absolutely adore who I’m married to, the house we rent, the place we live, the friends we hang with, the life we’ve created. I work for a friend. He’s younger. I’m old enough to be his parent. That would be a problem for some, but I absolutely love it! He has a different take on life. He has his own ideas and experiences and we gel well. He’s also smart enough to surround himself with those that he looks up to and listen and learn from their experiences and mistakes. We come at things from different perspectives but we have a similar goal in mind to help others with their health and wellness journeys. We don’t always agree (there’s no one I ALWAYS agree with), but we’re adults and we communicate, talk it out, share our reasonings, brainstorm, and come to a mutual agreement. (This is as political as I’ll ever get but all political sides could step back and remember that adults compromise, communicate, and come to a mutual agreement because there is no one you will always agree with).
Anyway, happiness is an inside job, be grateful for what you do have. If there is something you aren’t happy with, make one tiny step today to change that because life is short
and don’t let ANYONE knock you down for expressing your happiness!
